Teaching budding rock stars since 1997, this is not your average music school. Our motto is SHINE and every student who enters our studios is treated like a rock star. Our teaching style is unique and our techniques and skill development give young musicians the edge in local talent searches, musical auditions, and international competitions. We make learning fun, with a big focus on performing on a pro stage and many open mics, community events, YouTube concerts and more. We work closely with all our families to help get our students noticed on social media for their skills, confidence and artistic talent. Our students tend to stay with us for years, and we follow their progress into adulthood. We offer lessons for all ages, in vocals, guitar (acoustic, electric and bass), drums, piano, ukulele, mandolin and banjo. We also offer shared lessons and group lessons like our teen rock band, The Crushers (age 13-17), U-Rock’s Junior Band (age 10-12), The Roxies our all-girl vocal group (age 7-10), and PoPatrol our intro to music group for little stars age 5-7. PLUS, summer lessons and famous U-Rock Band Camps. We also have monthly songwriting workshops during the school year and a successful Artist Development program. U-Rock Music School is the recipient of the 2021 Top Choice Award for Best Music School in Ottawa, among many other awards.

U-Rock Music School is the recipient of many business excellence awards in 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 & 2016. U-Rock's students also aspire to earn our coveted 5-year achievement awards. These are remitted annually at the end of each school year concert. Our M.A.R.S. Awards (Most Awesome Rock Star) are given out in June every year. Private, semi-private and group lessons are provided in a home-based music studio located in the Stittsville/Kanata area, on a weekly basis.
Our music education program is divided in 3 sessions every school year. Session 1 is from September through the end of January. Session 2 runs from February to the end of June. We feature a big rock show concert finale at the end of each 5 month session. Session 3 is our summer session, it runs for 6 weeks in July & August. Private lessons & camps available.

Lessons are 30 or 60 minutes, once a week.
At what age can my child start lessons?
Typically students range from 6-18 years old. Yes, we also teach adults too.
This is a terrific program for self-esteem and for children/teens who have not yet found their voice or special talent. Many teens and preteens have found our unique lessons very helpful in social skills building through the camaraderie of music.You can preregister for free at our website anytime.
