John and Susan started Ashley Interiors in 1984 and their first store opened in Brockville in 1986.

John and Susan's philosophy from the very beginning was to get the job done right the first time, on time and within budget. They have always struggled with the perception that they are expensive, but actually, they win 90 per cent of the jobs they bid on, both residential and commercial. Clients are always surprised by this and while Ashley Interiors doesn't try to be the cheapest price, they remain competitive because they can do the job with fewer materials or in less time or both.

At Ashley Interiors, it's not just about the right product mix. It's about the skills and creativity to decide the best solutions for the problem.

Ashley Interiors carries many of the standard products that their competitors have, but because they have more of a design element to their business, they tend to have many more exclusive lines and unusual products. For example, everyone carries some kind of bamboo, but at Ashley Interiors, they have bamboo in 77 colours !

Ashley Interiors is always on top of the latest trends. They know what the newest products are and what new unusual treatments have been used. They attend a lot of workshops as well as trade shows and conferences. Since February 2007, Susan and her staff have been at international design shows in Washington D.C, Atlanta., Toronto and Montreal,
